Ellen Guillory was born to Corine and Willie Guillory on November 2, 1916 in Mallet Louisiana.. She wed Wilson Guillory, son of Arvilia and Eve Guillory on January 2, 1937. Wilson was born September 27, 1912 in Mallet Louisiana. The two of them gave life to 15 children, 6 boys and 9 girls and adopted a two year old girl. Our family like many south Louisiana families is bilingual. Family members speak English and French. Their family has grown to include 32 grand children, 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. The survivors include 12 birth children, their adopted daughter and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wilson passed away on April 21, 1969 in their home and Ellen passed away on September 9, 2003 in her home surrounded by her children. The Guillory family has traced it's roots to the 17th century beginning with Gregoir Guillory. The ethnicities that make up this family include French, African-American, Native American, Irish, and Hispanic. Ellen and Wilson's family is deeply rooted in spirituality, traditional Creole values and customs,strong work ethics, high morals and a religious upbringing centered around Catholicism .
